Lakes, rivers & wetlands

Sale is a place of lakes, rivers and wetlands and, of course, the wonderful wildlife that lives in these places.

Just five kilometres south of Sale the Thomson River meets the Latrobe River. These are two of the largest Rivers in Gippsland and contribute a little over 50% of the inflow into the Gippsland Lakes.

Our Rotary Club has been responsible for developing a walking trail from the urban area down to where the rivers meet, which is also where the historic Swing Bridge crosses.

There is a brochure that gives detail and maps of this wonderful, wetland trail.
